Helpline volunteering

Our volunteers are there for young people when they feel they have nowhere else to turn.

As a Get Connected Helpline Volunteer, you’ll support vulnerable young people, and connect them to vital further help. You could be the missing link between a vulnerable young person and the help they need, whether that’s an advice service, support group or sometimes even a bed for the night. Our helpline is open from 11am-11pm.

Our volunteering community is mostly based in London and helps young people in need via phone, email and web chat. Your shifts can be flexible each week around your other commitments, full training and support is provided and we provide a social community for our volunteers.

We also have a team of Digital Connectors – volunteers who give three hours a week from the comfort of their own home, around the UK, to support our digital channels.

We provide full training and support during shifts as well as a social community for all our volunteers.

Hear from Mish – one of our team of superhero volunteers!

Please note that while we are still accepting applications as normal, our volunteer training courses are now fully booked until January 2016.

Interested in volunteering at our Help Centre?

At the moment, we’re particularly looking for people who can regularly commit to a weekday shift between 11am – 2pm or 2pm – 5pm.

We will open up more flexible recruitment later in the year – sign up to our e-newsletter to keep in touch!

Successful applicants will be invited onto one of our training courses – either online or in person, depending on the opportunity you are applying for. For Digital Connectors, a set-up call will be arranged to make sure you have everything you need – please allow an hour for these checks.

If you have any questions please email volunteer@getconnected.org.uk or tweet us @GetConnectedUK

Please note we can only accept applications from volunteers based in the UK.
