Work for us

Helpline Assistant

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Service Provision Team.

Our multi-channel helpline offers in depth support and signposting to over 20,000 young people each year by phone, webchat, email and SMS.

We are looking for a Helpline Assistant who is available for flexible working; across our helpline opening hours (10am-11pm) and specifically at weekends. Our in-house training package will enable you to deliver support and onward signposting to the young people who access our service. As a shift leader you would also support, mentor and provide feedback to our pool of 100 + volunteers who help deliver the service.

We are looking for someone who has experience of support work either in a voluntary or paid capacity and is passionate about helping young people. Key skills and qualities required are active listening, empathy, leadership and an ability to work flexibly.

Candidates must be available to complete our in house training programme which takes place over evenings and weekends from the 3rd -27th of September.

The cause:

Young people today face a wide range of problems and many simply don’t know how to begin to identify, explore and address these. Help is out there, but it is not as accessible as one might hope.

Get Connected is the UK's free, confidential helpline service for young people under 25 who need help, but don't know where to turn.

At absolutely no cost to the young person, Get Connected offers a simple gateway to find help for any problem. Those who contact us are often completely at a loss, unsure of where to turn, what to do or even what help is on offer. Our community of around 100 trained Helpline Volunteers engage with them to discover the problems they wish to tackle or simply explore.
