The role of members

What is a member of Get Connected?

Being a Member enables you to play a bigger part in our future strategic direction.  Specifically, you can vote on who becomes a Trustee of Get Connected and you're eligible to stand for election to become a Trustee yourself. (If you'd like more information on the role of a Trustee, have a look at the Structure of the Organisation.)

Get Connected has three categories of membership:

Individuals - giving scope for informed and interested people to support the organisation, and use their skills in an appropriate way, as well as giving former volunteers an opportunity to share their knowledge and experience within the organisation.

Helpline Workers - ensuring that the organisation is run partly by those who are the most involved and therefore most in touch with the young people who contact the helpline, and the day-to-day functioning of the service.

Organisations - this enables us to ensure that Get Connected remains a relevant and unique service for young people, and that we can draw on the skills and experience of organisations that we signpost to and those who work with young people.

There is currently no charge for Individual Membership (although all voluntary donations are, of course, welcome).
