Information on Volunteering

There's more information below. If you're interested once you've read it, submit the form at the foot of this page and we'll send you details of current opportunities to volunteer.

You'll need to be able to get to central London, where the helpline is based. Volunteers are reimbursed for travel expenses up to £18 per shift and offered a cab home if they work on a late shift.

Anyone applying to volunteer on the helpline is assessed - to find out how suitable you are for the helpline and how suitable we are for you. All selected volunteer Helpline Workers are given training over several evening and weekend sessions, before starting to answer phonecalls, emails or webchats. During your first few shifts you'll be given extra support to ensure you're comfortable with our resources and policies.

As an established Helpline Worker, you'll receive regular reviews of your progress and be required to attend ongoing training sessions to keep you up to date with helpline developments and other services for young people. You'll also be able to attend a support group where you can discuss the challenges and rewards of helpline work with other volunteer Helpline Workers.

Get Connected also organises regular social events in London, such as ice skating and pub quizzes, and shares the benefits offered by The Carphone Warehouse to its employees.

If you're 17 or over and think you'd enjoy giving support to young people, why not get in touch?

If you have a skill or experience you’d like to contribute to Get Connected but you don't want to work on the helpline itself,  there are lots of areas where we can make use of your time or knowledge, just let us know how you think you could help by filling in the form below and telling us what areas interest you.
