Girls Get Connected
ABOUT
Girls Get Connected is a women’s networking initiative from Get Connected, established in response to the lack of female networking groups for the retail industry. It has since expanded beyond retail, and hosts a variety of networking events, which enable its members to make contacts with other likeminded businesswomen, whilst also raising vital funds for Get Connected.
By contributing funds to the charity, the Girls Get Connected group aims to support, protect, and empower a future generation of women, ensuring that vulnerable or troubled young girls receive the best possible start in life.
If you would like to get involved with the Girls Get Connected network, please join our Girls Get Connected group on LinkedIn. By becoming a member of our community, you will be able to communicate with other members, and you will also be kept updated on upcoming networking events that we host in the future.

November 2010: Sex and the City networking evening
A glamorous Girls Get Connected networking event took place on Thursday 4th November, raising a fantastic £3450 for Get Connected. The Sex and the City 2 themed evening was a fusion of Abu Dhabi enchantment and New York chic, and brought together a group of businesswomen from a range of industries in one of London’s most stylish and exclusive venues, Club Alto. Our thanks to Noreen Thompson for organising the event, and to The Carphone Warehouse, Samsung and Sony Ericsson for sponsoring the evening. A full list of our kind sponsors for the event can be accessed below.
It was a wonderfully successful event, and nobody objected to presence of a few men, in the form of the butlers serving cocktails, cupcakes, and canapés throughout the evening. Guests were also treated to belly dancing tasters, and the night culminated in an extravagant raffle, with prizes including a 5* holiday, VIP tickets to the National Television Awards, flights to India, and make up by the Jemma Kidd Make Up School.
The evening was not only extremely enjoyable, but also hugely valuable to many of our members, and we look forward to staging similarly memorable Girls Get Connected networking events in the future. We’d like to thank everybody who attended the event, and those who donated services and prizes, helping to make the night the tremendous success that it was. We’d also like to thank photographer Paul Baird who was there to capture the evening (and the outfits!)- a selection of his brilliant photos can be found below, and also here.
