Ten Years of Help

Last month, friends, supporters, fellow organisations, volunteers, staff and potential new friends all gathered at the House of Lords in London to celebrate the ten year anniversary of Get Connected. Hosted by The Carphone Warehouse Chief Executive Charles Dunstone, and the Baroness Morgan of Huyton, the occasion was the perfect opportunity to reflect on ten years of the service and to look ahead to future developments and partnerships, including the launch of a new online directory of help called WebHelp 24/7. Following the Emmy Award-winning The Osbournes, Kelly Osbourne has gone on to make a name for herself in the worlds of television, radio, musical theatre and fashion. But 'who is Kelly Osbourne' is the question Kelly herself poses in her new autobiography. She says "the book isn't just about me, it's about you. So whatever you're worried about, whatever you want to change, and whatever you want to shout about, me and my friends are here to help.'

On page 72 of the book we're delighted to see that Kelly highlights Get Connected as a free, confidential helpline that can put you in touch with somewhere safe to stay for the night and provide other help too.

You may have read in the press or on our website the exciting news that Daniel Radcliffe, the critically acclaimed star of the 'Harry Potter' film series and Broadway's Equus, has pledged his support to us and has made a generous donation. Finally, did you know that back in the 1650s chocolate 'arrived' in England and was immediately revered for its medicinal properties?! The week commencing 12 October is Chocolate Week - we will definitely be celebrating that in the office and helproom here - in moderation of course!
