Smile!

Happy new year to you all, hope you had a fabulous one…any idea’s for new year’s resolutions, peace and good will to all men and women? That’s what Christmas was about now what about setting your personal goals? Reaching the stars …or the sky if you prefer (easy does it).

There is so much going on in the world at the moment, so much that makes you think of how important and how fortunate we are to have such a blessed life. I was talking to a friend the other day (Omar S) and he kindly said, “Just please remember how lucky you are. You've got a roof over your head, a great family, food on the table, a safe environment to live, some good friends and great prospects. You know, most people would kill to get a life like yours. You're really lucky."

Very true he is! We all underestimate how much we have. We always look at what our life lacks, and when everything comes crashing down we always see what we don’t have. What about all we have? Every warm school lunch we have, children elsewhere don’t even have the chance to smell. All the extra money we have to buy sweets, trainers, or an iPod, children elsewhere probably haven’t even heard of. Fortunate? I think so.

Apparently the list of most common New Year’s resolutions consists of the usual, losing weight, saving more money, getting organised and changing for the better. Well whatever it is I wish you the best, but through every struggle, every heartache, and any distressing time, please do remember the tiny little bit of advice my friend gave me. We have more then we need. Think of what you do have, not what your life lacks, be thankful you have a roof over your head, food on the table and that your biggest fear is not whether you should leave your house in case there is an explosion. Every inch of our life is important, we should be thankful we have lives little luxuries. Tiny little things that mean nothing to us now (that we most probably take for granted), in time of need mean the world. If you’re reading this now, is what you’re reading from not proof enough?

Keep in mind that every smile that we pass on is a gift. This is a luxury in life that is affordable, and gives each and every one of us the slightest bit of hope. Its joy is endless, pass one on and you never know where it may end up. =)

Happy New Year.
