Get Connected awarded grant by Comic Relief
Get Connected has been awarded a £33,000 grant by Comic Relief to fund the ‘Can You Manage?’ project, which aims to involve young people in the management of the organisation.The project will allow potential service users to play a significant role in the development of Get Connected. A Youth Committee will be established to mirror the organisation’s Management Committee, and a Youth Member base will be developed. This group will meet once a year at a Youth AGM.
By integrating young people into the management and decision making process of Get Connected, the ‘Can You Manage?’ project will ensure that the service and organisation is developed in line with the views and ideas of the users. Issues that the Youth Committee and Members will discuss range from subjects such as whether Get Connected should introduce an email service, to what the publicity materials should look like, to when confidentiality on the helpline should be broken.
The recruitment of the participants will be carried out to ensure that they fully represent Get Connected’s service users, and participants will be from various regions around the UK.
