Get Connected is committed to protecting your privacy when you use our website and any forms in it. In this policy we explain how and why we collect your information, what we do with it and what choices you have over our use of it.

By using any of the sites within our web site network ("Websites") or our Services, you unconditionally agree to be bound by this Privacy Policy.


What data do we collect and how do we use it?

Get Connected collects and processes information about you in order to:

1.      Process forms or applications submitted by you

2.      Improve our Services and Websites

3.      Carry out research on the demographics, interests and behaviour of all of our visitors

4.      Send you information we think you may find useful, including news about Get    Connected's service and our marketing and fundraising campaigns

When you fill in one of the forms on our Websites, for instance to request information about volunteering or to register as a young member, you may be asked for information about yourself, such as your name and e-mail address.  You may also be asked to share with us your opinions on subjects such as how you prefer to access help and what issues concern you most.

You don't have to provide this information, but if you don't then we may not be able to respond to your enquiry or send you the information you requested.
 
Log files/IP addresses

When you visit our Websites, we automatically log your IP address (the unique address which identifies your computer on the internet), which is automatically recognised by our web server.  We use IP addresses to help us administer our Web Sites and to collect broad demographic information for aggregate use.  We do not link IP addresses to personally identifiable information.

Non-personal information

This is information such as the Internet browser you use, or the site from which you clicked through to ours, that we collect so we can raise awareness of our site and improve your visit to it. We can't link it with personal information about you; it's only used as aggregate data.

Use of Cookies

Cookies are pieces of information that a Website transfers to your computer hard drive to store and sometimes track information about you.  Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but if you prefer, you can change your browser to prevent that.  However, you may not be able to take full advantage of a Website if you do so.  Cookies are specific to the server that created them and cannot be accessed by other servers, which means they cannot be used to track your movements around the web.  Although they do identify a user's computer, cookies do not personally identify individual people or passwords. 

We use cookies for the following reasons:

1.      To identify who you are and to access your account information

2.      To estimate our audience size and patterns

3.      To ensure that you are not asked to register twice

4.      To track preferences and to improve and update our Websites


With whom is the information shared?

Get Connected will not share, sell or rent your personal information to other organisations.  However, your personal information may be accessed by Tincan Ltd, who build and develop our Websites. They will only use information about you to maintain and improve our Websites and will not share it with any other individual or organisation. 

Get Connected may disclose aggregate statistics about our Website visitors in order to promote our organisation to partners including funders and other young people's services, but these statistics will not include personally identifying information.

Get Connected may disclose personal information if required to do so by law or if we believe that we need to in order to protect and defend the rights, property or personal safety of Get Connected and our Websites, visitors to the Websites and users of our Services.


Our Websites contain links to the sites of other organisations. When you visit these sites, we suggest that you read their privacy policies. Get Connected is not responsible for the privacy policies or the content of such sites. 

Security

Get Connected believes the security of your personal information is very important. Only authorised staff within Get Connected and Tincan Ltd. may view or use this data and it's kept in a secure account whose password is changed regularly.

Removing your personal information

If you want to be removed from a mailing list or have personal information about yourself removed from our database, you can simply contact us and ask. If you opt to unsubscribe from a mailing list, we'll put your details on our ‘do not mail' list to ensure that we don't contact you by mistake. If you become a volunteer Helpline Worker or support us in another way, you can opt out of any unrelated communications, such as fundraising appeals or marketing updates, by letting us know.
