Youth charity invites young people to turn their feelings into short films
Young people's helpline Get Connected has launched a competition for young people to make short films about the issues that concern them, including bullying, sexuality and relationships. Launched online this week, Nobody's Perfect encourages 16-25 year olds to submit examples of their writing, acting, directing or musical talent for the chance to make their own short film in London in September. The resulting six short films will be screened at the Odeon Covent Garden on October 21st.
Entries will be judged by a panel including Harry Potter star Jason Isaacs and Georgia Groome, who stars in the recently released Angus, thongs and perfect snogging.
"Get Connected's email and webchat services have proved incredibly popular with young people who just aren't comfortable using the phone to talk about their problems, especially those dealing with self-harm and emotional problems. We aim to give young people the right sort of channel to talk about their issues, and Nobody's Perfect gives them the chance to express themselves in lots of different creative ways" says Get Connected CEO Emma Insley.
The competition is open to young people across the UK, and this year's short film winners will be selected from London. Regional entries rated highest by visitors to www.nobodys-perfect.co.uk will win a Samsung G600 phone. Get Connected intends to take Nobody's Perfect to other cities in the UK in future, with winners selected from that city and the screening held in a local venue. If you want Nobody's Perfect to come to your city next, vote in the online poll at www.getconnected.org.uk/poll.
The competition closes on 5th September.
