Volunteers' Week

This week was Volunteers’ Week – the UK’s annual national celebration of the work that volunteers do.

Events have been held across the country to recognise and reward the 22 million volunteer workers in the UK.*

So this seems like the appropriate time to say that if you live in the London area, can spare four hours per week and would like to make a real difference to the lives of young people in Britain, then why not consider becoming a Get Connected volunteer?

[Volunteers' Week]

Hello Nina

[Hello Nina]

Since it's Volunteers' Week, we thought we'd take the time to ask one of our volunteers some questions about what it's like about working on the helpline and what they do in their spare time.

Okay, okay, we do this every month....

But, anyway, this month it's the turn of Nina. That's a picture of her over there.

Don't worry about her purple skin tone, she's not really a Ribena berry.

ALOL: "Why did you choose to work specifically with young people?"
Nina: "Get Connected just sounded like a great organisation. The way they can help people deal with any problem made me think the service would be a good one to be involved in and learn a lot about the different challenges young people face."

Our new TV advert

Thanks to the stellar efforts of our fundraising team, we've been able to have a new TV advert made.

It's been played on the SubTV network in the student unions at Bristol University, University of the West of England, Bath University, Cardiff University, University of Wales Institute, University of Swansea and Newport University for the last couple of weeks. If you go to any of those universities and have seen it, we'd love to know. Drop us an email here.

If you don't go to any of those universities, you can check the advert out by clicking here. And do let us know what you think of it!

And finally....

Check out this hamster vacuum.

Look at this very clever dog.

Watch some students play an amazing game of Snake.

See what a rat on a cat on a dog looks like.

[And finally....]
