Participate in an event

Get Connected's supporters fundraise throughout the year for a range of events - and we really appreciate all the efforts they have made. We organise some events ourselves, and others are created by supporters who want to make their own personal event as fun and rewarding as possible.

Below are the main events in our calendar, for which we're always looking for participants, sponsors and gift in kind donations. If you'd like to get involved with any of them, just email the fundraising department or call the office on 020 7009 2500 and we will support your fundraising every step of the way.

Running and cycling

From seasoned professionals to first time runners, we have supporters dusting off their trainers for Get Connected over a variety of distances from 5km, 10km, Half Marathon (13.1 miles) and Marathon (26.2 miles). If getting on two wheels is more appealing then a number of our supporters take on a cycling challenge for Get Connected such as the London to Brighton bike ride.

If you would like help finding a place to run then the Runners World website has a list of runs being held throughout the country. If you're eager to get stuck in or would like more information about training, or support with your fundraising efforts then our fundraising team are on hand to help you out.

Decide which races to sign up for on our Runs in 2010 page.

Get Comedy

Get Comedy 2010
Our Fantastic Five comedians managed to make the boat literally rock with laughter for Get Comedy 2010. Simon Feilder opened the evening with wild-eyed enthusiasm, followed swiftly by the terrific Terry Saunders ’ acerbic observations. James Sherwood brought a musical tinge to proceedings with material from his ‘One Man and his Piano’ set before Iain Stirling rocked the boat at the end of the night with his fresh faced set to end the night on a spectacular high!

Alexis Dubus had flown in from Australia to compere the evening powered by coffee and biscuits to ensure that we all had an enjoyable night to remember.

Get Comedy managed to raise a fantastic £1,421 on the evening, we’d like to thank all the staff at the boat show comedy club for helping to run the evening and all of our facts for donating their time in support of our helpline.

Get Connected Auction

small auction shot 2009

Our main fundraising event is the annual auction, held in Central London and enjoying support from the mobile phone industry, banking sector and communications companies.  By auctioning exclusive items such as five star holidays, private dinner parties and fun experiences such as flying a stunt plane, the auction always contributes significantly to Get Connected's unrestricted funding.  The 2009 auction, held in Stationers' Hall, raised a massive £145,000!
