"Get Connected currently has 115 volunteers, each of whom helps an average of 200 young people each year." Danielle Sampaio, Volunteer Co-ordinator

Our volunteers

Get Connected's helpline is staffed entirely by volunteers.

We currently have around 105 volunteers, who each do one four-hour shift on the helpline per week. They are of various ages and backgrounds, with a shared commitment to helping the UK's young people. We interview one of them each month for the blog on our young people's site.

Jason, one of our volunteers, says:

'I have been a volunteer on the helpline for the last 14 months and have heard some of the most heartbreaking stories from young people. The upside of this is that with the training I have received and the resources that I have at hand in most cases I can give the caller some options.'

On average, a Get Connected volunteer Helpline Worker helps 200 young people each year, via phone, email and webchat. We're extremely grateful to all our volunteers - we couldn't run the helpline without them.

If you're interested in becoming a volunteer, you can read more about it in our Volunteering section. Alternatively, contact the office and we'll send you more information.
